Nature: Training / Drill / Work Detail

Location: Oak Orchard – Station #1

 

On Wednesday evening, November 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted its monthly firefighter drill and training exercise.  The specific topics for demonstration, training and work detail included the following:

  1. Apparatus and Equipment training and familiarization; and

  2. Apparatus Restock / Equipment Updating

The apparatus and equipment training process included the familiarization and review with the recently acquired utility lift trailers as well as review of the all-terrain vehicles (ATV) that are owned and operated via the fire company for various activities which include:

  • Fire Prevention - Fire Watch, Fire Prevention, Fire Break Maintenance and Upkeep, Control Burn

  • Fire Response - Wildland Firefighting, Urban and Rural Firefighting (Restricted Access), Farm Land Access, Personnel and Equipment Transport

  • Search & Rescue - First Response, Emergency Services, Personnel and Equipment Transport

  • Large Event Access & Mobilization Assistance – Fire & EMS Assistance, Personnel and Equipment Transport

After the instructional training and demonstrations were completed a work detail was organized to remove and replace the large diameter hose (LDH) on Engine #80-3.
