Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Sea Esta 2 Motel (80) - 100 Rudder Rd Sea Farers Village, DE 19966

On Sunday evening, October 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Rudder Road off Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a vehicle into the building at Sea Esta 2 Motel.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and Millsboro Emergency Medical Services (EMS). 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization if needed, facility stabilization with the disconnection of the utility services to the impacted units, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, incident mitigation and notification of the County Building Inspector.

It appears that a black Chevrolet Avalanche Pick-up collided with the building impacting a couple of the occupied units of the motel rooms.  There were no injuries associated with the occupants of the motel nor the occupant of the vehicle.

The Sussex County Building Inspector will ascertain the status of the structure pending evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
