Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious

Early Monday morning, June 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of the entrance to Pot Nets Bayside. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree, the occupant of the vehicle was out of the car and then returned to the car.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 and Incident Command from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignment included vehicle stabilization, scene stabilization, assist with patient stabilization, if needed, and traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a tan colored, 4 door, compact sedan was traveling north on Long Neck Road attempting to navigate the sharp curve and lost control striking a tree. The occupant of the vehicle was evaluated and transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close this section of roadway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
