Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Layton Davis Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday, September 7^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near Layton Davis Road.  It was reportedk' to be a two vehicle accident with unknown information regarding status and quantity of injured persons.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit -Trooper 2

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment included vehicle stabilization, if needed, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a Green Chevrolet Tahoe and a Black Dodge Charger collided in the area of Layton Davis Road.  Both vehicles suffered extensive damage as well as injuries to the opposite drive.  The Delaware State Police Aviation unit was not available.  All other responding were cancelled while enroute.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations..

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated complete traffic closure of John Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.  The traffic detours were further compounded with the tidal flooding concerns along River Road via Oak Orchard and were rerouted via Cordrey Road.

The Delaware State are investigating.
