Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Thursday, September 1^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Indian Mission Road near Silicato Drive.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, vehicle stabilization, and overall incident mitigation. 

It appears that a Kawasaki motorcycle and Ford F150 Pick up collided on Indian Mission Road in the vicinity of Silicato Drive causing damage to both vehicles. The aviation unit was cancelled; however, one person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of Indian Mission Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
