Nature: Trash Fire

On Tuesday morning, August 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a trash fire on Sand Pebble Drive North in the Driftwood Village development off Oak Orchard Road. It was reported to be a unattended fire in the residential development.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, notification of the property occupants of the statewide burn ban and proper burning procedures as well as the prohibitions, and full extinguishment of the fire.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
All units were permitted to return to their respective quarters upon completion of assignments.
Additional incident notations included that Delaware does have a Statewide Burn Ban in effect starting May 1st 2022 and will cease on September 30th, 2022. There is NO open / control burning permitted during the Ozone Season (May 1-Sept. 30), with the exception of cooking fires, campfires, patio fire pits, chimenea, and ceremonial bonfires.
