Nature: Structure Fire

Info:  HYDRANT @ CREPE MYRTLE DR/RIVER RD

Address:  73 Sioux Dr Warwick Park, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, August 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire incident on Sioux Drive in the Warwick Park development off River Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and 80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation efforts as well as evaluation to identify the nature and source of the incident as well as extension within the wall.

It appears that the residential occupants smelled smoke and investigated to locate an electrical outlet that ignited a fire in the preliminary stages.  Quick thinking for suppression and alerting the fire company resulted in minimal damage to the residential structures.

While on scene of the structure fire, Indian River was alerted for a vehicle accident which resulted in the engines and fire police being released to respond to the second emergency within the fire district.

Our Safety Officer, a licensed electrician, assisted the homeowner with resolving their electrical issue to restore their residential electrical service after the incident pending further electrical evaluation by an electrical contractor.
