Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Wawa (80) Entrance off Rt 5

On Wednesday morning, August 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road near the back entrance to Wawa.  Additional alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, as well as overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a black Toyota Avalon sedan and white Ford Fusion sedan collided at the entrance way causing significant front end damage to both vehicles.  One occupant was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. This segment of Indian Mission Road was closed for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
