Seventh Day Adventist Church Hosts Risk Reduction / Fire Prevention Initiative

On Sunday, August 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was invited to attend a Seventh Day Adventist Church to host a Risk Reduction Initiative and highlight Fire Safety; Fire Prevention; and Golf Cart Safety discussions. 

This Community Risk Reduction Initiative was intended to improve public safety and decrease loss of life and property through effective public education and community engagement.  This volunteer cohort from Indian River provided a demonstration of the fire truck, as well as a fire prevention discussion with educational and informational hand-outs for Fire Safety & Fire Prevention Topics which included but not limited to:

Fire Safety and Fire Prevention Topics

• Touch-A-Truck – Fire Truck Experience

• Smoke Detector Distribution when requested

Approximately 55 persons attended the day’s events which included approximately 25 children who had actual hands-on experience.
