Sunday May, 3 2015 @ 13:20 Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious Location: Dollar Store Bay Farm Rd & John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE On Sunday, May 3, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident near the intersection of Bay Farm Road & John J. Williams Highway front of the Dollar General store. It was reported to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center as a pedestrian accident. Upon arrival of Deputy Chief Steven Deery, it was identified as a two vehicle collision with difficulty access to one of the vehicles. Emergency response apparatus included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police, the Delaware State Fire Police, and the local emergency services provider. Emergency response crew assignments included to assist with patient stabilization and extrication measures, vehicle stabilization, and scene mitigation efforts as well. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control measures. It appears that a white Chrysler 300 was traveling in a traffic lane in the store parking lot when a black Acura departed from a parking space causing the vehicles to collide. The driver of the Chrysler needed additional attention with extrication and being transported to nearby medical facilities. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
