Wednesday, April 15th thru Friday, April 17th Indian River Delegation Attends 27th Annual Congressional Fire Service Institute. During the period of Wednesday April 15th thru Friday, April 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company permitted five (4) officers or members to attend a premier training opportunity in Washington, DC for fire service practitioners whose responsibilities include enhancing the volunteer fire service in and for the State of Delaware as well as obtaining some professional development courses. The four member delegation will obtain and/or enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities to train and assist our organization in further operational needs. Below is an example of the courses and activities available: http://www.cfsi.org/events/annual_dinner.cfm CFSI once again hosted the annual gathering of fire service leaders in Washington, DC. The theme of the program was "The Future Depends on Informed Leaders." As fire service leaders, we understand the importance of knowledge. It enables us to make the right decisions and helps us to influence decisions made by others. By attending this program, one gains new knowledge about the federal government and have the opportunity to share your own knowledge with key decision makers in Washington, DC. This experience will not only benefits the individual firefighter, but the entire fire and emergency services. The keynote speaker was the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Vice President of the United States. Additionally, the Delaware delegation was provided a session with the Vice President prior to the presentation. |
