Oppressive Heat and Humidity Warning

Pursuant to the National Weather Services (NWS), a brief return of high heat is expected starting Thursday, August 4th into Friday, August 5th.

A Heat Advisory will likely be needed Thursday, with the high heat potentially lingering Friday before diminishing further this weekend.

  • Hazardous Weather: Dangerously hot conditions with maximum heat index values of 100 to 104 degrees during the day, and low temperatures staying above 70 degrees.

  • Timing:  Thursday into Friday.

Impacts: These heat index values can cause heat related stress particularly among at-risk populations. Those especially vulnerable include elderly, children, those with pre-existing conditions, especially if they live near urban centers without air conditioning.

Confidence on occurrence: High confidence on the occurrence of dangerously hot conditions Thursday. Moderate confidence on the heat continuing into Friday.
