Friday March, 20 2015 @ 23:52 Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious Location: 27776 Devon Dr., Millsboro, DE 19966 On Friday, March 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Devon Drive in the River Winds development off of Oak Orchard Road. It was reported serious with a vehicle into a residential manufactured home with the vehicle’s occupant being reported as trapped into the vehicle. Emergency response units included Rescue 80 and the Incident Command Unit from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response assignments included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization, assessment of the manufactured home, and complete incident mitigation. The building inspector from the Sussex County Building Code Enforcement was notified of the incident as well. Upon arrival of the incident command unit, it was identified as having a single vehicle striking a manufactured home with no occupant entrapment. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to nearby medical facilities by the local emergency medical services provider. It appears that Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 was traveling on Devon Drive and apparently lost control running off the roadway within the residential manufactured home community and striking the manufactured home. The accident impact caused significant damage to both the vehicle and the manufactured home. The manufactured home was knocked off some of its block footers. The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control and scene security measures. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
