Nature: Service Call-Fire
Location: 30839 Honeysuckle Dr., Dagsboro, DE 19939
On Sunday, July 24th, the following fire companies and related resources were alerted to assist the Dagsboro (73) Volunteer Fire Company and the Delaware State Police with a search for two juveniles in the area of Honeysuckle Drive off Piney Neck Road. The alerted companies included but not limited to: Bethany Beach (70), Blades (71), Bridgeville (72), Frankford (76), Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), Selbyville (88), and Memorial (89) which were asked to provide manpower and all terrain / off road vehicles to assist with coordinated search patterns of the designated area. Additional resources from the Sussex County Paramedics, Sussex County Command Post, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2 were also utilized during these activities.
As a result of the oppressive heat, the Sussex County Paramedics and local emergency medical service units were utilized for rehabilitation activities and refreshment services during the incident.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-11 with Polaris 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility.
All responding units were directed to the Command Post Staging Area for specific assignments which may have included searching the wooded and field areas to locate the missing persons.
The Delaware State Police was on-scene coordinating specific activities as well.
The majority of these units were authorized to return to the respective quarters at approximately 15:00 hours.

RE: Piney Neck Road Search
Crews from the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department as well as various crews from various other agencies have concluded their search operations. Thankfully today’s operation resulted in the successful location of all parties involved.
The officers and members of the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department wish to thank all agencies that responded or called to offer assistance.
Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department would also like to thank all members of the public that responded to the scene and offered their assistance. The public outpouring of support was impressive, each of you selflessly offering to assist with today’s incident given the extreme conditions there were present was unbelievable. Thank you!
