Nature: Watercraft In Distress

Location: 25 Pinewater Dr., Pinewater Farms, Harbeson, DE 19951

On Sunday morning, July 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the United States Coast Guard – Indian River Squadron and the DNREC Marine Police with a vessel that reportedly broke free from its docking in the area of Pinewater Farms.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush 80-0 with 80 Marine 2 for the Long Neck facility which responded to the Bay City boat ramp, launched, and proceeded to the designated location.

DNREC and 80 Marine 2 located and secured the vessel at another dock. Contact was made with the vessel’s owner, who was out of the area at the time, and crews determine the proper location for the boat. DNREC Marine Police and 80 Marine 2 were able to tow the vessel back to the proper docking location and secure it.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted at the ramp.

DNREC is investigating the incident, as it appears the pontoon may have been purposely let loose.
