Nature: Fire House Tour / Fire Prevention Activities
Location: 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966
On Tuesday, July 19th, the Fire Prevention Cohort of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted the Growing Tree Preschool students for the following activities:

Fire House Tour and Apparatus Review;
The fire house tour provided insight for the children regarding the operations of the fire house facility as well as an overview of the apparatus.
(2) Fire Prevention Poster Coloring Exercise;
The "FIRE SAFETY EVERYDAY COLOR-ME POSTER" is the poster kid's will be excited to color and proud to show their parents. This 14" X 10" poster consists of two fire fighters and a fire dog with their truck, hose, ladder and ax.
(3) Learn About Firefighters Storybook
A Learn About Firefighter Storybook that reinforces the importance of fire safety. This process entails sitting down and reading the children the book “All About Firefighters.” This Storybook offers 12 pages of fun and education as to what it’s like to be a firefighter and how to practice fire safety.
(4) Illustrate, review, and sound a smoke detector.
The smoke detector exercise illustrated for the children the sounds of a smoke alarm as well as discussion regarding the importance of working smoke detectors, who should be done when a smoke detector alarm is heard, etc.
Approximately 18 children participated with the fire prevention tour.
