Nature: Pre-arranged Fireworks Standby Assignment Locations

  • Baywood Greens

  • Pot Nets Bayside – Paradise Grill

  • Rehoboth Beach

On Sunday evening, July 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided a designated standby crew for firework displays at Paradise Grill in Pot Nets Bayside, Baywood Greens, and Rehoboth Beach.  These assignments included a fully staffed apparatus, brush crew, and utility ATV assignment.

Baywood Greens was staffed by Indian River with a brush truck assignment,  Polaris 80 assisted the Rehoboth Beach Fire Company with a staff crew for this assignments, and Indian River was assisted by Dagsboro (73) Fire Company with a Engine Tanker crew and Millsboro (83) Fire Company with a brush truck crew.

Indian River would like to remind residents to use fireworks with caution ahead of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.  Included herewith is commentary regarding firework safety.  Now that consumer fireworks are legal to acquire in Delaware and you choose to use them, be sure to follow the following safety tips:

  • Store fireworks in a cold, dry place.

  • Do not make your own fireworks.

  • Always use fireworks outside.

  • Keep fireworks away from brush, leaves and any flammable substances.

  • Have a bucket of water and a hose nearby in case of accidents.

  • Do not point fireworks at anyone, even as a joke.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company utilized this opportunity to continue its Community Risk Reduction Initiative to highlight Golf Cart Safety, Fire Safety, Fire Prevention, as well as various Recruitment Initiatives.  These first responders distributed a recently published tri-fold golf cart safety pamphlet that highlights various safety tips as well as recruitment and retention initiatives.

Illustrated herewith are various photographs of the event's activities.
