Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 27073 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, June 30^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Rosedale Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines 80-1 and 80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and incident mitigation.

It appears that a DART Transit bus and a Chrysler mini-van were traveling eastbound when a westbound Dodge Avenger sedan sideswiped both vehicles in the vicinity of Rosedale Road.  The debris field was extended based upon the travel patterns of the vehicles involved.  One occupant of the mini-van was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close John J. Williams Highway between Gull Point Road and Layton Davis Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
