On Thursday afternoon, June 30th, the Indian River (80) and Bethany Beach (70) volunteer fire companies were alerted to assist Millville (84) Fire Company with a water rescue incident near the James Farm Preserve.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-8 with 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80-0 with 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments for Indian River included proceeding to Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp and prepare for launch.  The incident location was in the White’s Creek area near the James Farm Preserve.

All units were requested to respond to the designated area in search of a watercraft in distress.  The description was a blue and white vessel needing assistance.  While responding to the area, all mariner units were cancelled based upon the mariners reaching shore.

The DNREC Fish & Wildlife – Marine Police assisted with the incident as well.
