Fire Service Donates – Pike County, Kentucky
The volunteer fire service in Delaware has a steep tradition of donating fire suppression equipment, firefighter gear, and apparatus to other communities throughout the United States via donating to others versus selling to the highest bidder revenue generation.
Recently, the Ellendale (75) Fire Company donated an engine to a community in Pike County, Kentucky along with the Milton (85) Fire Company that donated fire suppression equipment, and the Indian River (80) donated firefighter gear and equipment.
Prior to the donation, the Pike County, Kentucky area experienced heavy thunderstorms and devasting flooding from Blackberry Creek.
Ellendale’s Engine 75-2 was a 1996 Sutphen pumper carrying 1,250 gallons of water - http://www.evfd75.com/apparatus.cfm?a=6.
These donations were transported to Kentucky via Chambers Motors of Seaford, Delaware which provides towing and recovery services.
