Nature: Indian River Continues Duty Crew Responsibilities
Location: Oak Orchard – Station #1
On Saturday, June 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company continued utilizing the evening Duty Crew Cohort at Station #1 from 6 p. to 12 midnight.
A duty crew’s purpose is to provide an immediate response for any fire, rescue, and/or EMS emergencies within the specific fire district as well any request(s) to respond to a mutual aid incident.
Indian River’s duty crew must include a minimum five (5) volunteers of which was a qualified driver, a qualified officer, three (3) qualified firefighters and at least one (1) member of the crew currently certified in CPR / AED. The duty crew assignments include at least one (1) for training duty the shift, one (1) hour for apparatus and/or facility cleaning, and other duties as assignments.
This duty crew did fulfill the respective assignments at Station #1 with training, apparatus tool maintenance, SCBA evaluations and monitoring, apparatus cleaning and facility cleaning assignments as well as responded to one emergency incident within the fire district.
It should be mentioned that these duty crews are in addition to the routine community commitments for fire prevention presentations, community risk reduction engagements, breakfast buffet and dinner engagements and their respective fire school training requirements.
