Sunday January, 4 2015 @ 11:38 Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious
Location: Rollover & Entrapment
On Sunday, January 4th, 2015, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident near the vicinity of Mount Joy Road and Cannon Road. It was reported to be single vehicle roll-over with occupant entrapment. Emergency response units included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police and the Sussex County Paramedics. Emergency response crew assignments were vehicle stabilization and assist with patient stabilization, scene mitigation, prepare for vehicle extrication with cribbing and jack for vehicle stability, and traffic control. The extrication assignment requested was a complete roof removal. It appears that a silver Buick Rendezvous was traveling west on Cannon Road and failed to successfully navigate the turn, losing control and striking trees before rolling over and coming to rest on its side. The occupant of the vehicle was trapped and required extrication. The local emergency medical service provider transported the patient to nearby medical facilities for additional observations. The Delaware State Fire Police closed Cannon Road between Friendship Road and Mount Joy Road for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
