Nature: Traffic Collision - High Mechanism (Rollovers)

On Saturday afternoon, June 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment.   Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation and landing zone establishment for incoming aviation unit.

It appears that a golf cart was traveling within the Baywood Green development when it lost control, overturned, ejecting the occupant.  The golf cart landed on top of the occupant during the mishap.  Fortunately, bystanders were able to free the occupant prior to arrival of emergency response units.  A landing zone was established at Indian River’s Station #2 on Banks Road.

The Delaware State Fire Police closed Banks Road for the arrival and departure of the aviation unit.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
