Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Saturday morning, May 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Baywood Green.  It was reported to be a single vehicle into one the golf course retention ponds. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Command 80 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control for the duration of the incident, incident mitigation where needed, and overall assistance.

It appears that a white Chevrolet Cruze was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason traveling through the grassy bunkers and into the retention pond.  The driver of the vehicle was able to self-extricate awaiting responding emergency services personnel.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
