Saturday, November, 15 2014 Nature: Open House, Fire Prevention Awards, and Apparatus Truck Housing Indian River Hosts Open House, Fire Prevention Awards Ceremony, and Apparatus Truck Housing… On Saturday, November 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted its Fire Prevention Open House and Awards Ceremonies as well as its Apparatus Truck Housing for Tanker 80. During the day, Indian River spot-lighted numerous activities which included a historical event synopsis, vehicle rescue demonstration, a meet & greet scenario with fire company and elected officials, vendor displays and presentations, fire prevention displays and spokespersons, as well as CPR training sessions hosted by the Sussex County Paramedics. Indian River received recognition from the Delaware General Assembly for service and housing of Tanker 80. This recognition was presented by the Honorable State Representatives Ruth Briggs-King, Harvey Kenton, and David Wilson. The Sussex County Emergency Operations, the Sussex County Technical Rescue Response Team, the Delaware State Fire School, and the Sussex County Paramedics attended and hosted exhibits as to enhance their community relations partnerships. The fire prevention ceremonies recognized the efforts of the Long Neck Elementary School and its students for stellar performance with the 2014 fire prevention poster and essay efforts. Student recognition efforts were included as a part of the program. The next chapter in the corporate history of Indian River was to acknowledge the efforts of the emergency response personnel and their desire to maintain a fleet of apparatus that best serves the community. The Truck Committee that oversaw the development and acquisition of Tanker 80 was represented Steven Deery, Chief; Jim Wagner, Chief Engineer; Robert Mills; Michael Bowden; Hayden Klingler; Ryan Mock; John Rossiter; and Patrick Miller. The truck housing recognized the following: Tanker 80-4, a 2013 Rosenbauer Commander R718 Chassis – 7 person unit. This Rosenbauer unit has a Cummins ISX12 500 HP diesel engine and an automatic Allison 4000 EVS transmission. The tanker has a 2500 gallon capacity and a 1500 GPM Hale pump and other optional equipment: • Severe duty cab interior package; • Electronic Stability Control; • Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminum wheels; • Meritor EX225 17” front and rear disc brakes; • Setcom-Bostrom Command.Com Integrated Seat Communications System; • Whelen M Series LED warning light package; • (3) color cameras with dash mounted monitor – (1) each side of cab, (1) rear of body; • Hale QMAX 1500 GPM single-stage pump – 2,500 gallon UPF water tank; • Rosenbauer EZ Foam system – 30 gallon UPF foam tank; • Akron DeckMaster 3440 electric monitor; • Power operated aluminum tread plate hose bed covers; • (2) 150’ of 1-3/4” crosslays in front bumper; • Rosenbauer stainless steel body and sub-frame; • (13) cab and body handrails w/integrated LED lighting; • Hurst tool equipped; • Rapid Intervention (RIT) equipped; • Opticom Traffic Emitter; • Harrison 10kW hydraulic generator; • (1) Hannay 1600 Series cord reel in rear compartment; • (6) Whelen Pioneer PFP2 12-volt LED scene lights – (2) brow, (2) each side of body; and • Command Light KL450 3,000-watt light tower.
