Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy & Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday evening, November 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway and Oak Orchard Road. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision and unknown extent of injuries at time of dispatching.

This was a second alarm situation for Indian River and the stand-by crew from Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company addressed this emergency incident.

Emergency response units include Engine #83-4 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Police and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, scene mitigation, and traffic control. It appears that a dark blue Ford Explorer was traveling north thru the intersection and collided with a dark green Honda sedan that was traveling south into the intersection attempting to turn left on John J. Williams Highway  Most of the vehicle’s occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.  Traffic patterns along John J. Williams Hihgway were altered during the incident mitigation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
