Nature: Outside Fire

Address:  Kent Av and Freeport Blvd Bethany Beach, DE 19930

 

On Friday, April 29th, the Indian River (80) and Ocean City (700) fire departments were alerted to assist the Bethany Beach (70) Fire Company with their respective marine units and help suppress the vegetation / marsh fire that has been smoldering for an extended period of time.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-8 with 80 Marine 1.

Emergency response unit assignments included launching at Harpoon Hannah’s in Fenwick Island and progress toward the Assawoman Canal arriving near Kent Avenue and Freeport Blvd to assist with area suppression and saturation of burning vegetation in order to fully suppression the smoldering nature of the persistent brush fire along the banks of the Assawoman Canal in the Bethany-South Bethany area.

All marine units were permitted to return to their respective launch points and back to their respective quarters.
