Delaware State Fire School – Celebrates 50 years…. On Saturday, November 8th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and many others had the distinct pleasure of attending the Delaware State Fire School in Dover, Delaware and participate in their 50th Anniversary Celebration.. Founded in 1964, the fire school is celebrating 50 years of educational excellence in 2014 – five decades of offering increasingly specialized and professional training while still addressing the needs of the Delaware fire school. The keynote speaker, Louis J. Amabili, the school’s first director and facility's name sake, spoke and commemorated the the heritage and recalled educating firefighters at many levels from ambulance attendance to EMTs all along enhancing and broadening the school’s mission in State of Delaware.
