Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious

Location: 24113 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday morning, November 8th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway between Banks Road and Holly Lake Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle with unknown entrapment or number of occupants.

Emergency response units include Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and Delaware State Police. The Sussex County Paramedics and the local emergency medical services provider were alerted and responded to the scene as well.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization; assist with patient stabilization, initiate vehicle extrication measures, traffic control, and overall scene mitigation.

It appears that a gold Honda Accord was traveling east on John J. Williams Highway and ran off of the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle slid sideways striking signage and a tree at or near the driver’s side door while continuing forward into another tree. The occupant of the vehicle was trapped inside the vehicle and needed some extrication measures.

This section of John J. Williams Highway was closed for the duration of the incident.

The occupant of the vehicle was transferred to the local medical center for additional evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control activities for the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
