On Monday morning, November 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a wash down, fluid and debris recovery assignment as a result of a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the area of the Food Lion. It was reported to be a multi-car incident. Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as 80 Incident Command. Emergency response crew assignments include fluid and debris mitigation, traffic control assistance, and incident management. It appears that three vehicle were traveling east on John J. Williams Highway and encountered a chain reaction type incident. All drivers refused any additional medical attention. The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
