Nature: Structural Firefighting Training at DSFS Georgetown Campus

On Wednesday evening, the Indian River (80) and Millsboro (83) volunteer fire companies participated in a joint training exercise led by the Delaware State Fire School Instructors and chief officers from both companies to continue training with structural firefighting evolutions.

The structural fire suppression evolutions were multi-facet various interior fire scenario including but not limited room and content fires, search and rescue techniques, fire suppression actions during a first floor fire, a basement fire, and a second floor fire.

Various other types of training included hose handling practices, breathing apparatus cylinder replenishments, pump operator evolutions, etc.

In closing, three (3) active firefighters from Indian River had been authorized to pursue interior fire suppression activities.
