Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious

On Wednesday, October 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road between Cordrey and Cannon Roads. It was reported to be a single vehicle roll-over.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency crew assignments included assist with patient stabilization, if needed; vehicle stabilization, if needed; traffic control, and scene mitigation.

It appears that a black Lincoln sedan was traveling north on Mount Joy Road rounding a curve and lost control for an unknown reason, sliding into a soybean field. The vehicle did not overturn. The local emergency medical services provider evaluated the operator who refused additional medical attention.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
