Tuesday October, 21 2014 @ 13:08 Nature: Vehicle Accident Location: John J. Williams Hwy & Oak Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday, October 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway and Oak Orchard Road. It was dispatched as a vehicle accident unknown in nature. Immediately upon arrival of emergency response personnel, it was identified as a two vehicle accident involving a maroon Dodge mini-van and gray Chevrolet Suburban. Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, debris and fluid recovery, as well as traffic and scene mitigation. It appears that a maroon Dodge mini-van was travel south on Mount Joy Road attempting to turn left on John J. Williams Highway. The mini-van struck the driver’s side of the Suburban propelling it across the intersection into a utility pole on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. It was reported that emergency medical response units transported three occupants of the vehicle for additional observations. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. Traffic patterns were altered for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident. |
