Nature: Outside Fire
Location: 25055 Arrie Dr Millsboro, DE 19966
On Friday, March 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside fire on Arrie Drive off Indian Mission Road. It was reported to be an outside fire burning leaves that got out of hand with exposures to a vehicle.
Emergency response units from Indian River were Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Brush 80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression with assisting the brush truck with rakes and other wildland firefighter supplies to suppress the spread of the fire. Crews were able to quickly gain control of the fire spread and saturate the area with water and wet water (a fire suppressant agent) to fully extinguish.
The property owner as apprised of the burning procedures and proper protocols.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and access to the area during the incident.
All units were authorized to return to quarters after clean up.
