The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is hosting its Firefighter Appreciation Banquet to acknowledge and thank its volunteer first responders. Indian River is embarking on its 69^th year in the volunteer fire and rescue services and has consistently responded to a growing number of emergency incidents within its fire district as well as assisting its mutual aid partners.  In Calendar Year 2021, Indian River responded to a total of 454 emergency alerts which does not include EMS services.

Indian River VFC would like to start off by saying – “Thank you!”   for the acts of courage and endless periods of volunteerism to all of its first responders.  Not withstanding the many challenges presented by the pandemic, the volunteer fire service has illustrated solidarity through these times of need.

Amid the many disruptions, our organization has certainly seen its fair share of challenges—but most of all we have witnessed a surge in support within our first responders willing to volunteer, enhanced our corporate and community partnerships, and strived to ameliorate our organizational footprint. The Indian River VFC as a whole has seen increases in individual donations and corporate funding for which Indian River is extremely thankful. 

With the pandemic challenges as well as our uncertain economy, our organization must continue to do everything possible to ensure our supporters feel connected and encouraged to stay involved. We have witnessed unprecedent growth within our fire district and have experienced growth in emergency response needs.

Indian River will recognize and award its Firefighter of the Year, Top Incident Responders, as well as recognition of elected and appointed officers and acknowledging recent retirements.

The Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company will provide a pre-arranged stand-by while Indian River recognizes its first responders.
