Nature: Structure Fire
Location: 25462 Guinea Hollow Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
Cross Streets: Friendship Rd/Dead End
On Saturday evening, February 19th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), Millsboro (83) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a working garage fire. As a result of a previous working alarm in Dewey Beach, the Dagsboro (73) fire company was added to the initial company dispatch and response. In addition, Milton’s (85) Engine Tanker 85-2 and Georgetown’s (77) Tanker were diverted from stand-by assignments to respond to this incident off Friendship Road.
The original report was for a fire in the garage that had spread into the house.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, Tanker 80, Rescue 80 and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police responded to the incident.
Emergency response crew assignments included but not limited to split laying a 5” LDH supply line down the private access lane, stretching three (3) attack lines for fire suppression, primary residential search for potential victims, establishment of water supply operations, ventilation, and overhaul.
Many mutual aid companies from the county were alerted to provide cover-up asisgnments for the activated companies which included but not limited to Gumboro (79), Memorial (89), and Roxana (90) volunteer fire companies.
There were no reported firefighter or civilian injuries.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
