Saturday August, 16 2014 Nature: Vehicle Accident

Back to Back Alarms On Saturday, August 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a cardiac arrest incident in Pot Nets Bayside and then a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near the entrance to McDonald’s. It was reported to be two vehicles. Emergency response units being Brush #80-0 and Brush #80-00 were already active do to an earlier cardiac arrest incident in Pot Nets Seaside. Other responding united included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facilities as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crews were assigned scene mitigation which included patient and vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and overall incident coordination. It appears that a red Dodge Stratus was attempting to access John J. Williams Highway and pulled into the path of a red Chevrolet Cruz. Both vehicles collided and traveled into the shoulder acceleration lane. One of the vehicle operators was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations. The Delaware State Police are investigation. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with limited traffic patterns until the debris clean up was completed.
