Nature: Multi Residential Structure Fire – Assist Rehoboth Beach

Location: 1701 Bayard Av Dewey Beach, DE 19971

On Saturday evening, February 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to provide a stand-by coverup assignment for the Rehoboth Beach (86) Volunteer Fire Company while they attended to a working multi-residential structure fire on Bayard Avenue in Dewey Beach.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 and the Delaware State Fire Police were assigned to cover Station #1 in Rehoboth Beach.

Volunteer firefighters from Rehoboth Beach (86), Lewes (82), and Bethany Beach (70) responded to 1701 Bayard Avenue in Dewey Beach. Units arrived to find fire showing from three (3) floors of the structure. A residential sprinkler system confined the fire to Unit A of the four (4) unit building with moderate damage to the exterior of the structure. No Injuries were reported as the occupants had exited the structure prior to arrival of Fire Crews. Fire Units were on the scene for over two (2) hours extinguishing the blaze. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
