Tuesday July, 29 2014 @ 09:14 Nature: Vehicle Accident Location: N/O Intersection - Cannon Rd & Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday morning, July 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road in the vicinity of the Cannon Road intersection. It was reported to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), to be a single vehicle off the road striking a number of trees. Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. Emergency response units from Indian River were cancelled while responding to the incident location. It appears that a blue Ford Econoline construction van was traveling south on Mount Joy Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking multiple trees before running into the wooded area. All occupants of the vehicle refused any additional pre-hospital emergency care from the local EMS provider. Indian River's Safety Officer Steven Hawkins was in the area and responded directly to the incident location and requested fire police units for traffic control and cancelled all other responding units. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control operations for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
