Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious

Location: John J Williams Hwy & Yeshia Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday evening, July 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near Yeshia Lane which is opposite Victoria Landing. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision.

Emergency response units include Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, the Delaware State Fire Police, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response crew assignments were to assist with patient stabilization, if needed; perform vehicle stabilization; coordinate traffic control via established detour route; scene mitigation with debris and fluid recovery. This section of John J. Williams Highway was ordered closed for the duration of the incident. A detour was established via Legion Road and Bay Farm Road.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated all traffic flow operations for the duration of the incident. Some of the occupants of the vehicles were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
