Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 25311 Banks Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday morning, July 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road just east of Long Neck Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, Rescue 80 and Incident Command 80 from the Oak Orchard area, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency crew assignments included vehicle stabilization; patient stabilization assistance, if needed; traffic control; and scene mitigation.

It appears that a Honda Civic was traveling west on Banks Road and left the roadway striking a utility pole and fencing. It was reported that the driver was swerving to miss a deer.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. Banks Road was temporarily closed.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
