Junior Volunteer Firefighters Receive Recognition Over the past week, four junior volunteer firefighters from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company graduated high school and many received an addition elective credit towards graduation upon completing 90 hours of community service. Established by the Delaware General Assembly in 1998 and allows students grades 9-12 to earn 1 elective credit. The volunteer hours completed as part of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company or any service group may also be used towards the Delaware Volunteer Credit. Volunteer activity cannot be political or advocacy in nature and must be performed at a non-profit agency in Delaware. Volunteer Service must be approved by the State Office of Volunteerism. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is proud to recognize the following firefighters for the completion of this initiative: • Cody Levis; http://www.irvfc.com/profile.cfm?id=434 Graduate of Sussex Central High School. Cody aspires to pursue post-secondary education at Delaware Technical & Community College in Georgetown, Delaware. • Myles Eichhorn; Graduate of Sussex Central High School. Myles aspires to pursue the military by joining the United States Army. • Matthew Zwiebel; Graduate of Sussex Technical School. Matt aspires to join the workforce. • Colyn Zwiebel; Graduate of Sussex Technical School. These high school seniors all graduated within the past week. Congratulations are offered to all of the aforementioned volunteer firefighters. |
