Nature: Vehicle Accident Serious

Location: Indian Mission Rd & Beaver Dam Road., Harbeson, DE 19951

On Sunday afternoon, May 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road near the intersection of Beaver Dam Road. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision with possibility of three patients.

Emergency response units included Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, the Sussex County Paramedics, the emergency medical services of the local provider as well as the Millsboro Fire Company ambulance service, the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police aviation and ground units.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization; assist with patient stabilization, initiate traffic control, and scene preservation measures. The Delaware State Police aviation unit did not transport any personnel.

It appears that the white Toyota Corolla was traveling on Beaver Dam Road approaching the Beaver Dam Road intersection and collided with a green Kia Sportage SUV.  All occupants of the vehicles were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police were required to close Beaver Dam Road and Indian Mission Road for the duration of the incident.  Traffc was detoured via Holly Mount Road and Polly Branch Road. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
