Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics
Location: Indian Mission Rd and Stonewater Creek Blvd E Millsboro, DE 19966
On Saturday evening, December 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road. Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, as well as a Millsboro EMS Unit.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control with closure of Indian Mission Road.
It appears that a KIA Sportage traveling south and a Honda Accord traveling north on Indian Mission Road when they collided for an unknown reason causing the KIA to overturn. Both vehicles suffered significant damage and it was originally reported to included possible occupant entrapment. Both occupants of the Honda were immediately transported to nearby medical facilities and an additional EMS unit was requested back to the scene for one occupant of the KIA. Initial arriving Paramedic units confirmed that there was not any occupant entrapment. The aviation unit was cancelled.
The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close Indian Mission Road for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
