Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday, December 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road and John J. Williams Highway.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Engine #80-1 and Chief 80-15 from the Long Neck area and Utility 80 from the Oak Orchard area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response units were requested to coordinate traffic control, fluid and debris clean up, direction of incoming resources and incident mitigation.  Fire truck apparatus were cancelled while responding to the incident.

Utility 80 was at the opposite side of the intersection at the time of incident and provide incident information and coordination pending arrival of Chief 80-15.  It appears that a blue Ford EcoSport struck the read of a Dodge RAM pick up at the intersection of Mount Joy Road and John J. Williams Highway. Both vehicles sustained damage causing the Ford to be inoperable.  One driver desired to be evaluated for medical purposes.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.  Both vehicles were moved from the travel lanes in order to continue the flow of traffic during the incident. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
