The chilling trend, which started at a fire station in Chicago, is circulating around the web on outlets like Facebook and YouTube. It's called the "Cold Water Challenge." Firefighters dunk in cold water of their choosing to raise money for their favorable charities. Many local fire stations are also taking the challenge and pursuing the plunge as well as nominating additional fellow firefighters to follow suit. "With the brotherhood that we have here at the fire service and around the country, the response has been phenomenal," said Sanibel firefighter John Reitenbach. The rules are simple. If you get called out, you can either jump into cold water of your choice and pay less than $20 or you can opt out and cough up more than $100. "It's a great way to give back and give money to charities," said firefighter Robert Wilkins.
