Saturday May, 17 2014 @ 09:10 Nature: Vehicle Accident (Reported Serious) Location: 27500 - 27605 Sterling Blvd., the Peninsula, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday morning, May 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an accident in the Peninsula near Windswept Drive. It was reported to be involving a golf cart with occupant ejection and possible serious nature of injuries. Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Utility 80-08 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police aviation and ground transportation units. Emergency crew assignments were to assist with patient stabilization, establish a landing zone for the incoming aviation unit, if necessary, and provide scene mitigation efforts. It was determined that a female occupant was traversing on the golf course via the golf cart and was thrown free for an unknown reason possible causing and unconscious situation for a period of time. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was cancelled and the additional pre-hospital emergency medical services were provided the by the Sussex County Paramedics and the local emergency medical services provider. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
