Nature: Traffic / Transportation Acdnt BLS

Location: Royal Farms (80) – Cross STS:  Oak Orchard Road

Address: 26672 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro

On Thursday morning, May 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the Royal Farms.  It was reported to be two vehicles with minor injuries and one vehicle remains in the intersection.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization and assist with patient stabilization as well as scene and traffic mitigation. 

It appears that a maroon Ford Sport-trax was traveling north on Oak Orchard Road, entering the intersection, when a westbound yellow Jeep Wrangler did not successfully navigate the stopped traffic at the intersection.  The Jeep and Ford collided causing significant injury to both vehicles and injuring the operator of the Jeep.

The operator of the Jeep was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation via the local emergency medical provider.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
