Nature: Vehicle Accident ALS

On Friday afternoon, May 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the Food Lion off of John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response units included Rescue 80 and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-5 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included to assist with patient stabilization, scene mitigation, and traffic control. It appears that a female subject was departing the Food Lion Grocery Store and was struck by a red Honda Accord traveling via the traffic lanes in the front of the store.

Two persons were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional evaluation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
