Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Indian Mission Rd and Harmons Hill Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday morning, December 1^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road and Harmon’s Hill Road.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision involving an ambulance transporting a patient to the hospital from an earlier emergency medical incident.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Emergency Medical Services Supervisor, the Sussex County Paramedics, additional EMS units from Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and Millsboro, and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation activities.

It appears that the ambulance was traveling on Indian Mission Road and was hit in the side by a Toyota pick up causing significant damage to the pick up.  The occupants of both vehicles were transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
